Watch out for BED BUGS

I stayed in this hotel May 28 & May 29. The staff were great but the first indication I had this was not a 4 star hotel was waking up in the morning to an awful smell in the room. House keeping came and advised the plumbing lines were plugged causing the foul odor. Instead of moving me to another room while they repair it they send in the plumber while I am in the room. Not exactly relaxing or comfortable. However that does not even beging to compare to what I discovered at check out on Sunday morning. I was covered in bites on my arms, shoulders and legs, I even advised the staff something must have been in my room biting me because of the welts and the incredible itch. The following day I went to a doctor who advised me I had bed bug bites. I called the hotel and the manager suggested that I was allergic to the detergent they used on the sheets because the maid checked the room and found nothing( or so they say). This was the only hotel I stayed in and I have over 50 bites. If you stay check your bed very carefully!!!

Stayed here 3 nights and it was ok but certainly not a 4 star. As others have said it is dated and the carpets and fixtures need updating. The worst was the noise with kids running in the hallways and nothing done about it (well after midnight) by staff after it was brought to their attention by numerous guests. The restaurant is expensive for what you get.

This may have been a 4 star hotel in 1981. I guess for the price (week before Christmas) the value was OK. But normally I would NOT stay here again. Everything worked OK, and was reasonably clean, and service was OK. But the whole place needs a MASSIVE renovation, particularly the bathrooms. I am not a fan of chipped enamel in the sink of a "4 star" hotel. The local Motel 6, OK fine, but not a hotel aspiring to a higher level. Also, being old and way past the "time to renovate" date, the place had the weird "old hotel" smell. Not stale smoke....just the "carpets that have been steam cleaned too many times instead of replaced" smell. Tolerable but not pleasant. Parking is expensive ($* / day) and a pain....you park around the corner in a parkade and then have to haul your luggage in through doors and an elevator that are just a bit too small when your hands are full. Internet service is a touch deceptive. They say "free" high speed internet in the hotel description which is true....but to get REAL high-speed internet you need to upgrade to the "premium" service which is $* / day (not mentioned in the hotel description). However, it is wireless and is painless to connect if your laptop is at all modern. The staff are pleasant and helpful. No problems there. So it all comes down to expectations. I got the room at a pretty reasonable price - less than some 3 and even 2 star properties. In that situation I'd say sure, as long as you can live with the 80's decor it's all right. But it can't compete with other hotels in this category if they're trying to charge full price.
